When trying to install Adobe Reader from the setup executable file you may receive a message similar to the following:
Unable to launch AOM file. This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel. Error 1155.
There are 2 methods you can use to get around the bug in the Adobe Download Manager.
Method 1
- Look for the program AdobeDownloadManager.exe which should be located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\ESD
- Find where the downloaded setup file expanded the .aom file. It’s most likely in C:\Temp. You can find your temp files by going to Start, Run, and typing %temp%.
- Drag the .aom file onto the AdobeDownloadManager.exe program file.
Method 2
- Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\ESD and locate the uninst.exe file.
- Double click it to remove the Adobe Download Manager.
- Run the downloaded file again.
